28 Science and Technology Awards of China Railway Society in 2020

China Railway Society published recently the winners list of the "Science and Technology Award of China Railway Society in 2020", and 28 projects of the University were included, among which the University acted as the leader in 3 first and 2 second prize projects and participated in 4 grand, 7 first, 6 second and 6 third prize projects.

Professor Gao Shibin at the School of Electrical Engineering presided over the project of “Complete Set of Technology and Equipment for Wide-area Protection, Measurement and Control of Traction Power Supply”, and won the first prize of the Science and Technology Award.

Targeting at the major technical problems such as accurate fault/load identification of traction power supply system, rapid reconfiguration of complex network, and quality evaluation of protection, measurement and control equipment, the research team has developed a dynamic simulation platform for traction power supply and a complete set of equipment for wide-area protection, measurement and control. The system has been employed in Central South Corridor in Shanxi Province, Beijing-Harbin High-speed Railway, Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway and Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway. The dynamic simulation test platform for traction power supply has become a CRCC contract laboratory and passed the tests of CCRC’s major manufacturers, generating significant social and economic benefits.

Professor Wu Guangning at the School of Electrical Engineering presided over the project of "Key Technology and Equipment for Current Collection of Pantograph Catenary of High-speed Train", and was awarded the first prize. To counteract the frequent occurrence of pantograph catenary faults after the substantial increase in train speed, the technical system was established for simulation analysis, material preparation, test technology and the evaluation of safety of pantograph catenary’s current collection. The research team resolved the problems concerning the reliability of current collection of pantograph-OCS system, greatly improved the life-span of pantograph catenary current collection system, and produced a set of basic theories, technology systems and complete equipment with independent intellectual property rights. The results of the project are widely used in high-speed trains, significantly boosting social security and economic returns.

Professor Peng Qiyuan at the School of Transportation and Logistics presided over the project of “Real-time Risk Analysis, Early Warning and Active Control Theory and Key Technology of High-speed Railway Dispatching Command”, and gained the first prize. To solve the technical problems of risk identification, early warning and control of high-speed railway intelligent dispatching in China, the research team proposed the methodology for real-time risk analysis of high-speed railway dispatching command system, and developed corresponding practical systems and simulation platforms. Achievements in such fields are applied to the system formulation, dispatching decision support and train operation adjustment at different levels of dispatching departments, providing theoretical basis and technical support for the safe, punctual and efficient operation of high-speed trains, and upgrading the management level of high-speed railway transportation.

Professor Ni Shaoquan at the School of Transportation and Logistics presided over the project of "Theory and Technology of Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway Operation Diagram Design and Optimization", and obtained the second prize. To fully tap the resources of Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway and meet the requirements of passenger flow, the research team devised the optimized operation diagram of Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway based on the principle of "One Diagram Per Day", and put forward the innovative technical method and optimization scheme for Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway operation and passenger transfer. The results have been used by Beijing Shanghai High Speed Railway Co., Ltd., to optimize train operation and improve design of train operation diagram, with the concept of lean management put into practice and significant social and economic benefits reaped.
